iProbono India brings together the legal expertise of its carefully curated community of panel and network lawyers, ground-level insights of its grassroots partners, and the ethos of social action litigation to advance justice and equality in India.
We focus our efforts on child rights, housing justice, and strengthening civil society.
iProbono represents vulnerable individuals before courts across the country. Cases come to us via our partner organisations, and in some instances, government stakeholders. Our team assigns the case to a suitable panel lawyer. While court appearances are primarily handled by panel lawyers, the iProbono Officer manages the case at all levels, including client care & liaison, legal research, maintaining documentation, and efficient case oversight.
Our team provides holistic support to children in need of care and protection referred to us by Child Welfare Committees. Our social workers assist with enrolment in schools, provide support during medical termination of pregnancy, connect children to appropriate mental health professionals, and identify when a child is unsafe at home and needs to be placed in a care facility.
iProbono enables NGOs to focus resources on their core work, without having to worry about legal difficulties, by providing them free advice through our experienced and accomplished community of lawyers. Advice includes legal support on intellectual property disputes, regulatory compliance, drafting contracts or internal policies, and on the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Act.
Our team drafts recommendations, files representations before public bodies, and engages with key stakeholders to disseminate legal knowledge on our key areas of focus. Our litigation and psychosocial support work informs our advocacy initiatives, and helps us identify areas where systemic improvements are required.
